About the
Fletcher Trust

The Fletcher Trust has been operating for over 50 years, having originated as a charitable trust to support staff and communities in which Fletcher Holdings and then Fletcher Challenge Group of companies operated.

Now an independent charitable trust, the Board of Trustees comprising Angus Fletcher (Chair), James Fletcher, David Sixton, Sir John Hood and Hugh Fletcher all had personal connection with the company. The Trust is registered with the Charities Commission (registration number CC10657).

In addition to its educational philanthropic activities, The Fletcher Trust manages The Fletcher Trust Collection of New Zealand artwork, which forms part of its assets, and the Fletcher Trust Archives of material from the former Fletcher Challenge Group.

What we support
and why

The Fletcher Trust aims to make a difference to New Zealand society and, in particular, to young people and their place and future within New Zealand and internationally.

The Trustees’ current philosophy is that, while many factors make up the country’s social structure, New Zealand’s future can best be ensured by the investment in education at all levels. The Trust therefore concentrates on supporting youth and educational programmes directed at the pre-tertiary level.

The Trust was a founding member of Philanthropy New Zealand, an association of Philanthropic Trusts in New Zealand.
